About Jørgen

Jørgen is a senior partner at Holst,. He has worked in the legal profession since 1972 and played a key role in developing the law firm that shares his name today.

Working within a range of legal disciplines over the years has helped Jørgen to build the company’s reputation as a provider of full-service advice in all major legal disciplines.

Jørgen has worked in areas such as contract law, insolvency and restructuring and energy supply law. He was a pioneer in advising on energy supply law and contributed to many of the structural changes that led to today’s competitive Danish energy supply market.

Jørgen’s restructuring work has centered on the financial sector, where he remains a trustee of the Amagerbanken and Roskilde Bank bankruptcy estates.

In addition to his advisory work and board duties, Jørgen has conducted a number of principal litigation and arbitration cases. He is a certified arbitrator.

Jørgen was a member of the Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society during 2009-2015, including the last four years as vice chairman. In conjunction with this work, Jørgen has served as chairman of the Council’s procedural law committee and as chairman of the working group responsible for updating the code of conduct for lawyers in 2010-2011. He was also the Council’s representative on the Danish National Courts Administration board during 2011-2018. Jørgen has served as an external lecturer at Aarhus University in financial market law and has been associated with the university external examiner corps for decades.

With reduced working hours, Jørgen no longer has primary responsibility for advising in large complex cases. Yet, Jørgen is still often involved behind the scenes, where his fellow colleagues draw on his experience for the benefit of the client and resolution of the case.
